Big Fish for August - Bevar Sea

If you're looking for a quick introduction to Bevar Sea, here goes- They are a no bullshit stoner doom band with an undeniable '70s heavy rock foundation. Their music is all about catchy tunes with thick riffs, groovy rhythms, melodic solos, and raspy vocals.

This Bangalore-based stoner doom metal quintet has been functional for around a year and a half now, having started out in late 2010. Influenced by blues-rock of the ‘60s and ‘70s, the band is focused on presenting classic heavy metal exactly the way it should be, by employing an organic, no-frills approach to songwriting and live musicianship.

Bevar Sea draws inspiration from a plethora of highly influential bands, the obvious ones being Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, UFO, Rainbow, Saint Vitus and Sleep, along with some not-so-obvious names such as Orange Goblin, Grand Magus, Trouble, Pentagram, Electric Wizard, High On Fire and Kyuss.

Throughout their various live performances till date, Bevar Sea has paid tribute to these legendary acts with their own renditions of some classic tunes as well as deep cuts. But it’s their original material which is the most sought-after among fans, and tunes such as “Abishtu” and “Universal Sleeper” have made Bevar Sea one of the most popular bands in the Indian underground music scene.

Bevar Sea is:

Ganesh Krishnaswamy - Vocals, lyrics
Srikanth Panaman - Guitars, songs
Rahul Chacko - Guitars, art
Avinash Ramchander - Bass
Deepak Raghu - Drums, designs

Their original material currently exists as live recordings on YouTube, but the band will release their much-awaited debut album sometime this year on Iron Fist Records in India.. Stay tuned to for more on that!
