Big Fish for December - Clown with a Frown


The Big Fish spotlight is on this hard-to-miss ten piece band who call themselves 'Clown with a Frown'. They just walked away with the first place in NLS' Starberry Fields held in Bangalore. All December, we indulge in the music and madness of this diverse and fun act, EXCLUSIVELY on!

Calling themselves miscellaneous rock, Clown With A Frown brings large amounts of funk and energy to the Bangalore music scene. Influenced by the likes of Jamiroquai, Maroon 5, CHIC, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Chaka Khan, Dave Mathews Band, James Brown, etc.; this ten piece band has been performing for over a year and are known for the vigour and colour they exude on stage. The band also draws inspiration from Indian bands like Shaair+Func, Junkyard Groove, Solder, Sridhar/Thayil, Allegro Fudge and Galeej Gurus.

The band recently took the city by storm by winning National Law School's Strawberry Fields 2012 and are expected to release an album very soon.

Pramod Pratap - Percussion
A mostly self-taught percussionist, Pramod draws his inspiration from a variety of artists like The Beatles, Rush, Queen, Iron Maiden, Toto, Elvis Presley, Bob Marley and other music from the 70s and 80s. He enjoys experimenting with new instruments and even creates his own instruments.
Abigail Attavar - Vocals 
Having been brought up with exposure to different genres including bossa nova, blues, swing, jazz and new wave, Abigail is a singer, songwriter and even plays the guitar. Her influences include Lou Rhodes, Holly Brook, Lil' Hardin Armstrong, Nina Simone and bands like Incubus, Phish, Tool and Poets of The Fall. She intends to take up music professionally.
Abheet Anand - Bass

Drawing inspiration from funk, progressive and alternative rock, Abheet looks up to artists like Brandon Boyd, Maynard James Keenan, John Mayer, Chris Cornell and Dave Matthews.


Jonathan Reuben - Guitars and vocals
An ardent fan of jazz, funk rock and mainstream pop, Jonathan admires the works of Elvis Presley, Jimmy Swaggart, Miles Davis, Eric Clapton and Jamiroquai among others. He also plays guitar for the choir of Garden City Assembly of God Church.
Reuben Jacob - Guitars
Constantly experimenting with many genres, Reuben is inspired by Maroon 5, Kings of Leon, Rascal Flatts and Lincoln Brewster and idolises the likes of BB King, David Gilmour, Andy Timmons and Eric Clapton. He has previously played with Illusive as well as The Seven Car Pileup.
Rahul Richard- Trumpet 

Rahul has been playing the trumpet for eight years now. His roots are deep in classic rock, jazz, blues and western classical music. A total old school rocker, he is inspired by artists like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Queen and Led Zeppelin. Rahul also teaches part-time at a orphanage with Make A Difference.
Kavya Lakshminarayanan- Trumpet 
Kavya has been a student of western classical music under Mr. Narayanaswamy for the past nine years and has played with the Bangalore School of Music Chamber Orchestra, the FAPS Brass Band and the India National Youth Orchestra. She loves to sing and is an avid listener of all genres of music.
Amrita Jain- Trumpet 
Another student of Mr. Narayanaswamy, Amrita enjoys playing all genres but puts blues on the top of the list. Apart from playing the trumpet, she likes to take to vocals too and is keen on pursuing a career in music.
Rahul Joshua Thomas- Trombone / Bazooka
A student of Mr. Narayanaswamy, Rahul is a western classical trombone player and even plays for the Bangalore School of Music Chamber Orchestra and the India National Youth Orchestra. Having been at the instrument for eight years, he listens to a variety of genres and can also play the guitar.
Jerod Nesan - Keyboards
Jerod believes that music is a blessing, one without any boundaries. He loves an array of genres, from progressive metal to country to gospel and everything in between. His major influences include White Snake, Kenny Chesney, Bon Jovi, Impellitteri, Stevie Wonder, Dream Theater and Angra. He has previously performed with acts like Slain and Godspeed; and currently also plays for Mind Wanderer.
