Big Fish for March - Afflatus

There's little known about all-girl bands in India, but that doesn't mean that these sort of bands don't exist! Here's introducing Afflatus. They've been around for close to 10 years, and still haven't got the attention that we think they deserve! So this month, we throw the spotlight on the four rockers from Shillong... Afflatus!

Afflatus began their inspirational journey in 2004... a journey that has had its share of hurdles, obstacles and constraints. But, the band never lost sight of the one thread, the one passion, and the one love that binds them together…the love of creating music!

Formed by Grace Miller (Vocals), Karen Donoghue (Guitars), Sharon Zadeng (Bass) and Mercy Miller (Drums), Afflatus is made up of experienced musicians in their own right with Mercy, Karen and Sharon having earlier been members of bands and Grace vocalist in her father’s gospel group since she was a child.

Their debut performance as Afflatus in 2004 won them a prize at the national level! Since then, Afflatus, have come a long way with a debut album in the making, numerous high profile concerts under their belt and the emergence of a truly international sound. They are the answer to the country's more-or-less silent female rock following, and a strong response to the false impression that girls can't rock!
